I didn't think this book would be that good, but was really surprised. I was around when this stuff was happening and can relate to what the author went through. I was surprised to find that a lot of what was in the movie actually happened, and loved hearing about the behind the scenes shenanigans that went on. It is also a story about overcome obstacles to achieve your goals, which our young people need to hear more of.Slap Shot Original: The Man, the Foil, and the Legend
Laugh out loud at times fun.It's easy to dismiss Mr. The book is very insightful and with perspective that is often lacking these days.Beyond that it is just a fun book to read.

It is amazing how hard a player had to work and live to make it to the NHL or WHA. I really liked the movie, but figured what could possibly be in the book that would be interesting.Once I picked it up, I found it completely addicting and entertaining.
I got mad when I had to put it down, and it is so full of good stories, I already know I will read it again.The book covers a lot of details about how the movie was made, and what hockey was really like in the 70's. I mean really fun.
Hanson as a goon, but he is the type of person that deserves everyone's respect.Even as a writer.
IF you loved the movie, you will find the book very interesting and entertaining. The book offers insight in to how the movie was made, and how the characters were developed. The book does get in to a lot of Dave Hansons life after the movie, it is not just about the movie. It is more of a biography of Hansons life. It made me want to watch the movie all over again. and I did.
To me Dave Hanson's hockey history was interesting. I found this book to be very entertaining and funny. I didn't realize that he played for Herb Brooks. As enjoyable as the movie. It could have been written better but I enjoyed reading about all the antics. Reading this book gave me the incentive to purchase another book from Amazon. The Herb Brooks Book, (The Inside Story of a Hockey Master Mind) which I am still reading.Tony Mazzola
well, get the book and see. If you love "Old time hockey" you will love this book. I can not tell his story as well as he can. Dave takes you into his life from the very beggining and tells about life in hockey while trying to make it to the "show". And when he finally gets the call, he shows up meets the owner and is handed. From the locker rooms to backsatge on the set of SLAP SHOT to the fights you will live the life through his words and enjoy the ride. Without a doubt, GET this book.
